A worksplate, J & T YOUNG, Ayr, 14, 1873. Although this firm is known to have built at least one locomotive, in 1863, they were principally manufacturers of auxiliary engines for ships and of colliery and agricultural machinery, at one time employing 800 men at their Vulcan Foundry in Ayr. Cast brass, 15½"x10¼", lightly cleaned but unpainted. (Postage Band: C)
