A GWR cabside numberplate, 2340, from a 2301 Dean Goods Class 0-6-0 built at Swindon, Works No 985, in June 1884. Withdrawn in June 1939, it was reinstated the following February due to the outbreak of war and survived a further fourteen years. Allocated latterly to St Philips Marsh from where it was withdrawn in June 1954 and cut up at Swindon Works. This is the earliest Dean Goods cabside to appear in auction. Cast brass, the front repainted, the beading stamped Engine Class 0-6-0, Boiler Class P. (Postage Band: N/A)
