A worksplate, LONDON & NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY, 2411, COWLAIRS 1911, from a North British Railway D29 Class 4-4-0, LNER No 9340, named LADY OF AVENEL after a character in Sir Walter Scott's novel The Abbot. It was renumbered 2411 in 1946, becoming BR 62411. Its BR sheds were Polmont, Eastfield and Thornton from where it was withdrawn in November 1952 and cut up at Cowlairs Works. Cast brass, 9"x5", ex loco condition. Notably it was the last of its type to retain its original green LNER paintwork until withdrawal. (Postage Band: C)
