A worksplate, AMERICAN LOCOMOTIVE COMPANY, 70943, SCHENECTADY WORKS, AUGUST 1943, from a metre gauge 2-8-2 WW2-supply class, known in the Far East as "MacArthurs" & in India class MAWD. This engine was USATC no.471, went to the Bengal & Assam Rly. as no. 852 and subsequently sold to Thailand (RSR) via delivery from Malaya. First numbered RSR 398, then soon renumbered 421. A few were still on RSR's books up until the late 1970s. Only one w-plate was carried, on the LHS of the smokebox, the rectangular USATC plate was on the RHS. Cast iron, 14"x7½", the front repainted. Together with its matching plate, TRANSPORTATION CORPS, US ARMY 471, ALCO 70943, carried on the right hand side of the smokebox, cast iron, 14½"x7¾", the front repainted, a small loss at the lower left corner.
